The question is pretty much self-explanatory. How are they??? I just found out today that I got assigned a triple at dickinson.

heh, I'm sorry man. I've seen them, and I wouldn't want to live in them. As long as it isn't a forced triple, then it won't be too bad. But having 2 roommates can get annoying, cuz people have tests at different times, so sleep schedules may be different. It's just not good in general IMO because you have to worry about more ppl's feelings.

I stayed in one--when I went up for the womens in engineering thing. It wasn't TOO bad, like the space was ok and everything. i just wouldn't want it because three is a tough number...two people get along better. but it was pretty comfortable, space wise : )

DICKSON triples are TIGHT. And not in the cool, slang, ebonics way either.

AJKates you are hilarious! I have a triple in McLLU and since it's in Dickson...

well good thing i know one of my roomates :-\ and the other one is a frosh...

Yes, what Dickson tends to do is put three beds, dressers, and desks into a double room. Unfair? I think so, but what can you do?

You can complain that Cornell just wants to make more money and so they overenrolled class of 2010 last year, when I'm sure they had a good idea that a lot of people were going to matriculate.

Surely they know a lot of students will matriculate, but how many exactly can never be anticipated. However, I found one thing particularly funny my freshman year.

Three guys were in a triple not much bigger than my single. There was about 15 square feet of floor space, and that's with bunked beds and stacked dressers. However, across the hall was an oversized single that was far larger than the triple, and only one student was in it. We could have literally played twister in his single room (though we didn't). I bet there was enough space there to park a hummer with room to spare (given that you could make it through the door).

So, I really don't think Cornell puts much effort into the room assignments. This is also evidenced by lack of roommate compatibility. Of course, you can't please everybody, but too many people were complete opposites of their roommate my year, at least compared to other colleges. For instance, they'd match a sloppy, knight owl varsity wrestler with a geeky, neat engineer. If they put any sort of effort in, they'd realize that this type of thing a recipe for disaster.

AJKates where you staying at this fall? also, do we have numbers of how many incoming freshman? vs. 2010?

i was trying to be optomistic, lol

you're an idiot; Cornell over-enrolled our class because they did not expect the yield to drop as little as it did for the class of 2009 and 2010.

If you look here: http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000002.pdf

Cornell enrolled 130 more students for the class of 2010 than they did for the class of 2009, but with the increase in applications, it wasn't a far-fetched idea that the yield would drop. They were wrong, however, and we ended up with a 4% larger class compared to the class of 2009. Boo hoo.

jewsus chryst...you're rude..

that 4% did make a difference...6 people were living in my high rise floor lounge...i think that's a bit ridiculous, dont you think?

if triples are really that crappy, is there anything I can do to change my room to a double or a single?

Yeah, the 4% made a difference not because Cornell admissions was "greedy" and wanted to milk more money from its students by having more of them. It was an unanticipated error on the admissions office's part and a huge screw up by campus life. They could have dealt with the situation so much better; for instance, that whole floor lounge thing could have been avoidable had they got their **** together before everybody arrived.
