My friend with the same ACT score and similar GPA, but a less challenging course load was accepted to engineering. He is a white male, out-of-state. Your have many more ECs than he did, but you both shared jazz band.

You’re probably in considering all this , and you’re in-state; 80-90% of the students at UofI are in-state. Just don’t screw up the essay!

Yeah my friend had a worse ACT, worse grades, worse ECs, and easier classes, and he got in, although it wasn’t into engineering. The only thing potentially holding you back is your ACT score, as U of I seems to accept a lot of students on tests and grades.

I’m in state and I know two people who had better stats and both got deferred. One was engineering and the other was business. The one who applied to business eventually got in and the engineering person got accepted to LAS. I think you will most likely get into business. Engineering is more questionable. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys. I’m actually in the process of raising my ACT score - I will be taking the ACT the 22nd. Hopefully, I can get a 30+. If not, well I still have June and September. I have no doubts about my math score though. I recieved a 33 on my first test and I will achieve similar results on the following tests.
