I'm looking to go to a top private engineering school such as MIT, Caltech, Stanford, Cornell, or Princeton. I have top notch grades and pretty good test scores. I'm just worried my EC's may not be up to scratch. They're not crappy by any means, but I see people who do amazing stuff like publishing research papers and winning national mock trial competitions, and I feel a little behind. Here's what I have:

Red Cross Club 9-12, PR director 12th. Doesn't seem like much on the surface, but I'm serious about this club. Even though my official position isn't much to brag about, I've done a ton for the club including designing professional-quality marketing materials, dealing with the administration, and communicating with our Red Cross chapter. Our officers this year have transformed the club from something 10 people would show up to for free community service to a legitimate part of the American Red Cross with a full classroom of members. I may write about this for one of my essays.

Science Club 11-12, Vice President 12th. Not much to write about here. We use the club as a vehicle to participate in Science Bowl and Science Olympiad, in which we have won a few regional awards.

Econ Challenge 10-11. Won state championship 11th, ended up just shy of making national finals. I may write an essay about this experience.

Robotics 12. Only seniors at our school can participate. The competition is too late in the year to write about in an essay.

Jazz band 9-12, section leader 10-12. We're not an elite band by any means, but we usually place decently in local competitions. We play in school and community events.

Track and Field 9-11. Ran varsity in 11th. I was a decent athlete. Nothing much to say, except maybe a cliche word about the value of hard work.
