Do you think these ECs are good enough to balance out a GPA that's below the average of schools I'm applying to?

-Piano (10yrs)
-Choir (4yrs)
-Leo Club (2yrs)
-JSA (3 yrs)
-JSA Cabinet member (1 yr)
-JSA state Fundraising coordinator (2yrs)
-Youth group board (2 yrs)
-Attend local/regional youth group events (4 yrs)
-Sunday school assistant (2yrs)
-Sunday school teacher (2yrs)
-Jewish summer camp (7 yrs)
-One summer at camp doing a community service/work program
-One summer at camp doing a Counselor-in-training program
-Volunteer at homeless shelter every week
-500+ hours of community service total

To me, this seems more like a laundry list. The point of ECs is that they demonstrate long-term commitment and dedication to a specific area or two, hopefully the field that you’re planning to major in. But with you, it seems like you just joined everything you could without committing much. The two exceptions to that are JSA - that seems interesting, and you have some leadership there; and community service - 500 hours is very, very impressive.

Well all the temple and camp-related activities are things I have been involved in my whole life and has played a significant role in making me the person I am today. Hopefully I can talk about that in essays or something…? The only things I would see as laundry-listy might be leo club or forensics. Leo club is a community service club at my school.

Yes, that could definitely be a topic for a good essay, if it really is important to you. Just remember to make it unusual, interesting, and unique. Also, it seems like all of your most important ECs revolve around community service. That’s definitely a big plus, but it’d also be impressive if your ECs showed some commitment to fields that you’re planning to major in. You didn’t say what your intended major is, so I can’t really say anything about that. But you do have some commitment to JSA, so are you majoring in something related to that?

I think you extracurriculars are very impressive!

Can you tell me what you think of mine? Keep in mind im a female living in saudi arabia and therefore my opportunities outside of school are almost non-existent. I plan to major in finance/accounting and minor is something artsy (interior design?).
