How are Princeton Review Reading and Science Practice Tests?

D does fine in Math and English. She's very competent in reading and science but seems to be a slow when reading for comprehension.

At this point, we both think that doing as much practice as possible is going to help the most. Want her to apply some tips I have read on CC. She has done a lot of the real practice tests already. Want to save a couple for right before the test, so that leaves us with relying on practice tests made up by companies like Princeton Review.

How good are PR practice tests for this purpose. I hear Barron's are way too tough and I don't want to break her confidence. Any other suggestions?

McGraw Hill has a book of 10 ACT practice tests. They get mixed reviews, but it might be better than nothing. I am going to get them at some point because they are not very expensive and I could at least work on timing with them. The negative review on these is that they are “too easy” – so that might give your daughter a confidence boost as opposed to the Barron’s.

I am using the Kaplan book right now. There are 2 full length practice tests in it. I am using an older version, so I can’t access the online resources from Kaplan, but it sounds like if you get the newer version that there is even more practice online.

A lot of people really like the PR materials. That is another one on my list to buy when I get some money.

Thanks for your comments! Any other thoughts?
