How are you doing with applications?

I’m on my last two essays - but they are very similar in question so its kind of like writing 1 1/3 of an essay. I keep stalling. I know that’s really bad and that I’m behind already, but I cannot concentrate on this stuff for more than fifteen minutes at a time. Ahhhhh.

@vivsters It would definitely decrease your chances a lot - I mean would it be fair to the people who turned it in on time if the school regarded your application with the same weight - especially at competitive schools like HADES who all have an over-abundance of applicants anyways. Never hand in a late form - esp if you’re applying for FA. That’s just my thoughts on it.

@beatlesforever: I am having the same issue. I still have to write 6 essays and edit about 10 others but I am procrastinating so much… I am just going to have to sit down and write them all one day this week.

2010 i am completly with you on the essays, i bascially know what im going to write about and ive been thinking about them for about 2 weeks i just have to get them down on paper!

@2010 and deerhotch,
I’m in a similar boat you guys are in. I have 3 left and I have to get them done this week. I’ll probably write them all tomorrow or something.

beatlesforever, 2010 hopeful, deerhotch, ifax108:

i suggest you guys start writing right now. otherwise you’ll just keep saying ‘oh i have a week left. i’ll do it all tomorrow’.

it doesn’t matter what you write, at least write something, that you can later edit =D

Oh gosh beatlesforever, 2010 hopeful, deerhotch, ifax108 and whoever is still not done with their applications-

Ahhhh two more weeks left, and I haven’t finished any of my essays or interviews. I am waayyyyyyyyy behind. Ugh

@vivsters - yeah that’s what im doing at this point. I have a whole plan scheduled:
today: write last essay
tomorrow - sunday: edit
mon: mail
since im doing absolutely nothing over this break that’s actually lots of time. im allowing lots of time for editing because me stuff sorely needs it.
and I will mail it on monday all finished and perfect (let’s hope). I WILL!
okay…have to turn off internet at this point. i think that’s what’s distracting me!

good luck to all who have not finished yet!

Okay… I think I’m 75% done…

-All but 2 interviews scheduled (I need an off campus one for exeter and they haven’t gotten me an alumni yet)
-SSAT completed (:()
-All essays completed except for a couple that still need editing, and one that was supposed to be visual but isn’t done yet
-PFS still needs to be finished
-Picked a student essay with teacher comments to send, now I just need to send it
-All but 2 recommendations handed in

@Heps: Get your PFS done right away!!!

From the SSS by NAIS website:

“Important Note: IF you are applying for aid for the current year (academic year 2010-11), December 31 is the last day you may submit a PFS. Be sure to submit your PFS and any accompanying required documents by December 31 at midnight EST.”

what is PFS???!!?

I’m applying to 12 schools: ETSU, Clemson, Furman, Mercer, Davidson, Duke, Emory, UNC Chapel Hill (EA), Wake Forest, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, and Vanderbilt.

I finished my last application last night and I’m paying for it today. I’ve already received an acceptance from Mercer with an invitation to the scholarship competition.

I’M BASICALLY FINISHED!!! I’ve been working intently on these essays for the past 3 months. :)

PFS = Parent Financial Statement. You only have to send it in if you are applying for financial aid.

I’ve pounded out all my applications!! Yay!
However, major edits and revisions are in order…

@2010,
If you’re applying for aid this CURRENT year. It won’t affect us applying for next school year. (2011-2012)

@ifax: Opps! I guess I read it wrong. haha

@ifax are you sure, 2010 kind of made me nervous now lol

^I feel like such a thread killer, but I have a quick question
I submitted my candidate profile with the ec’s and everything but I have new ec’s that I want the schools to know about. Do you think I should contact the schools and just tell them or should I mail in an entirely new application.

@polodolly,
Yes, I’m sure. And I would contact the schools about your new ecs. Just email the admission office and tell them your new ecs.

@Ifax, I see you also gave really helpful advice on my SSAT thread :slight_smile: Thank you!

i’ve finished 6 of my 8 essays, so now I have less than 900 words to write! then i’ve got to do some maaajjjorrr editing…13 days left…
