The lights thing may be school specific. I tried and tried to convince SwimKid to not put them up. After a visit where every single room had them, I caved! The are also tapestries, which are a no no in the handbook. But again, each school enforced things differently. I think In this case dorm parents have bigger worries than Christmas lights.
As for the posters, I think it depends on the school. I have seen many a rap poster and album cover with you know what on it hanging up.
@22louisi I foresee no problem with those album covers. I’d be really disappointed if there was an issue.
Well this is a bit late but talking about the first day of school and everything, did you guys buy things in advance and then started decorating? Because with the transportation of different items…
I’ve been thinking about cool dorm room designs and I have determined that I don’t want to do the plain ‘this half is mine, this half is yours’ thing with my roommate. I hope he’ll agree once I meet him, but I’ve a few ideas for ways we can really use our space well.
What are y’all’s thoughts on designing your room?
I’m hoping I can put in some furniture so my room can be a “hang out” room. If I get a triple like I requested, there should be space.
But I don’t know how many triples are available do that may not work.
You should make no such assumption. The size of a dorm room will usually (bot not always) increase in the approximate proportion as the number of occupants. One should not bring/purchase extra furniture (if allowed) until after seeing the space
