How bad can a bad art supplement hurt you?

I submitted art supplement to all of my dream schools (Ivy level schools) because I was told that it couldn’t hurt me if it was bad, and that it could only help me. However, I read today that it could actually hurt me, especially if it is not RISD level drawings. I know my art is no where NEAR that quality, and I was wondering how much my otherwise alright application would be hurt by these.

Are you applying as an art major?

If not, it probably doesn’t matter. They may find it odd that an applicant submitted something that wasn’t helpful, but I doubt it’s much of a factor in the bigger admission decision. And even then, it would have to be not just “not RISD level” but actually bad.
