How bad is a 3.8 for tier 1 schools?

I got a B in Spanish both frosh/soph year and a B in AP Bio junior year. However, I have strong ECs and test scores. How screwed am I for when I apply to tier 1 schools?

Stanford (Tier 1)
23% of admitted class is in the 3.70-3.99 range
As long as you are in the top 10% you still have a shot. If not, then chances are extremely low.

3.7 to 3.99 is a pretty big range. Thank god my school doesnt rank.

Lol. 2 B’s.

People here are crazy… stop worrying.

How good is your 3-point shot?

Seriously, people get admitted with a 3.8 all the time, it’s just part of the package. 3.9 or 4.0 is better, but it’s no guarantee either. Your grades will be taken in context with your school and the rigor you took. You’ll never know if they or another factor prevented you from getting in any particular place.

Just assume if you don’t get in, they took the kid with the better 3-point shot.

Alright, I was just very concerned. I got to a rigorous school and take 5 APs (double up in both math and science). I was just wondering because my unweighted GPA is kinda low for the schools I plan on applying to.

Is that 3.8 a weighted GPA? If so that is too low.

No, 3.8 is unweighted. I’m sure that my weighted in above 4.3 (5 APs this year)
