<p>ok im a junior and i think im going to end up with 3.9 gpa (weighted)
my school is public but magnet school
we only have less than 200 people per class.
we dont rank for that reason, and i heard that our counselors write a letter explaining why we dont rank (tougher to get good gpa, at least tougher than other pub schools)</p>
<p>so.. based on this info, is 3.9 really bad?
actually at my school, im doing pretty okay/well.. any opinions?</p>

<p>You can't predict admissions to those schools based on a GPA. It takes much more than that-- a 3.9 alone won't make or break it in the admissions process.</p>

<p>Don't count on Berkeley. I know a kid that had a 3.8uw and a 1510/1600 on the SAT and didn't get it. 3.9W and 2100 won't cut it at Berkeley, sorry.</p>

<p>You all worry about some weird things. Heck no a 3.9 won't hurt you in the least, at least I don't think so. It isn't like colleges don't 1) Get a lot of schools that don't rank and 2) realize that gpas from different schools mean different things. a 3.9 with a big courseload will mean a lot. Though schools like Berkeley can be super selective about that, it doesn't make a 3.9 an impossible GPA to live with. I have a friend that was in the lower 50% of his class, with a not-so-great GPA and got into Berkeley, it's possible. What is it unweighted?</p>

<p>I have a 3.46 GPA (3.50 so far Senior year) and I got into BU (had a ton of EC's and great essay/recs, but w/e). I would die for a 3.9. Unless you are applying to HYP or some other top school like MIT, you'll be fine.</p>

<p>If we were talking about 3.9 unweighted that would be another story. I mean, I have a 4.4 weighted but a 3.4 unweighted (extra point for honors and AP classes).</p>
