How bad will getting two Cs sophomore year look on my transcript?

I got all As and Bs freshman year. However first semester of sophomore year I got lazy and got two Cs on my transcript. I got a 77 in Geometry Honors because I didn't understand the material. I got a 79 in English II Honors because I didn't do the summer work and because of tardies. How bad does this look to colleges? Would they think I grew lazy because my grades went lower? Can I make up for this if I maintain As and Bs throughout the rest of high school?
I got a course waver to stay in Honors English and dropped down to regular Algebra II junior year.

Haha I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t know what you are going to do if someone says it looks bad. Forget about your past mistakes and move on! Regardless of what grades you received, you always want to try your best. I think that it is a good idea to stay in honors English and go to Algebra II. There are many amazing CC’ers who are very supportive
Also, different colleges have different levels of standards, so it does kind of depend on what colleges you want to apply to! :D

may be it is too early, where would you like to go for college?
1. tier1: 2 Cs, you are out.
 2. tier2: 2 Cs , you will need perfect GPAs (and other stats) going forward to make up.

Stupid comment: You’ll have to wait and C.

Real comment: Most colleges aren’t all that selective. A college that would have accepted you with a lot of Bs will most likely accept you with a couple Cs. You’re not going to Harvard, but you probably wouldn’t have even if you’d had all As.
Do well on your standardized tests and do extracurriculars you feel passionate about and try to improve your grades, and you’ll get into a good school.

Thank you very much for your support MathGuy777! Before, I was really worried because I know other people on CC have an even more rigorous schedule and get like straight a’s all the time. It made me feel incompetent when I compared my grades to them. But now I know that doing that will get me nowhere and that I need to do what I know is right for me. Once again, thank you for the support because other CCers have really high standards and think that anything below AP isn’t good and are mean.

Oh no, you can still attend your state flagship! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
