How badly will 7 B's Freshman year of Highschool hurt?

Hey all. First time poster, and a frantic one at that, so sorry if I mess anything up.

My freshman year I straight B’s in Math because my teacher was an absolute nightmare, then at the end of quarter 2 I got sick and simply didn’t have time to recover–I got a B in French, Music, and Gym then.

(I feel silly worrying about Music and Gym but now that I’m in sophomore year and I’m just desperately trying to make actual all A’s for one damn quarter.)

Not that I’m gonna sink further into the dark abyss if I’m told there’s no turning back, but can I assume I’m not getting into MIT?

Thanks.

Oh and my school doesn’t calculate GPA with our grades program because it hurts the total student populous more, apparently.

Is it 7 quarter Bs or 7 semester Bs?

Obviously that isn’t the greatest to have on your transcript, but freshman year is probably the least important year; a strong upward trend will nullify some damage done. Some schools ignore freshman year (Like Stanford), but I think the best you can do is go for as high of grades as you can and maybe explain the circumstances in the application, I think there is a section for that.

Quarter B’s

As long as you can up your game and demonstrate an upward trend in your grades, I think you will be ok
