<p>I'm thinking of having just 1 roomate, n planning 2 go 2 either UCI or UCSD. R Uc dorms generally small? cuz i thought UCI dorm rooms were pretty nice n big enuf.</p>
<p>Another question is about social life at UCSD/UCI. I'm an average person wen it comes to meeting new ppl n making friends. I don't like a loud/distracting school nor a school thats too quiet. It seems like all UCs r either one way or another.</p>
<p>I don't like the beach that much besides itz view. I like hanging out w/ friends n going shopping. Bear that in mind, which school do u guys think fitz me more? Which school has a more lively feel to the campus?</p>

<p>I go to UCI but have been to UCSD several times cause my brother goes there. Personally, I kind of got the same feel from both campuses. They were built at about the same time, both near the ocean (although ucsd definitely closer), nice weather in general. Some of the dorms at UCSD are pretty nice, some of them aren't. ERC at UCSD has some new dorms that are really nice.</p>
<p>At UCI, most dorms are pretty nice. I live in phase 1 which were built a gazzilion years ago and they are very spacious and not the high rise type that you might find at a lot of schools, and the new ones here are ever better. There is A LOT of shopping/malls around/in Irvine. I'm not sure about UCSD but it might be pretty similar.</p>
<p>Social life: I have met a lot of awesome people and always find something to do any have fun and I don't go home on the weekends. A lot of people do though. UCSD is a commuter school too, to an extent, although I'd venture to say not as much as UCI.</p>
<p>which school has a more "depressign atmosphere?" R the UCSD dorms halls type n UCI dorms suite type? I've been to Mesa Court dorms b4 n i thought it was pretty nice but the school looks so sad.
I heard education at UCSD is way harder than UCI? Oh btw, wat dorm phase at UCI do u recommend me living in?</p>
<p>I don't know about the education being way harder at UCSD. It is a little bit harder to get into UCSD though. Pretty much, I'd go with Mesa and any of the phases are good. I have not gotten a "depressing atmosphere" at either of the schools, and I think both campuses are quite nice actually.</p>
<p>You generally only live in the dorms the first year at UCI, after that join the fun by renting a house on Newport Beach.</p>
<p>Both schools are big with big classes, it can be tough to meet people easily, once you've met your dormies. Join a club, sport, frat/soror, to meet people.</p>
<p>I think the biggest commuter aspect is not every one going home to their high school life at their parent's home, but simply that they all live off campus after year 1 and are going home to their house, so people are not just hanging out.</p>
<p>Yeah a lot of people move off campus after freshman year, but there are several on campus options for continuing students as well. Next year I'm still going to be living on campus, just not in the freshman dorms. Some people do this, while a lot of people get apartments either close to campus (there are a lot near campus) or a little ways from campus.</p>

<p>If you like shopping and hanging out then UCI would definitely fit you better. It is 10 minutes from South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island, Irvine Spectrum, and Beach shops. </p>
<p>In terms of social life, I think they are pretty much equal. Both are mellow and are in the doldrums of suburbia. UCI might be slightly more lively, but then again UCSD IMO is a much better school.</p>
