So I visited Davis' campus, and quite honestly, I liked it! Sure, Berkeley has all those nice old big buildings, but most of the students seemed to be to be of an isolated kind. At Davis though, people were much more social, which is the type of person I am. Nonetheless, I wouldn't mind going to Berkeley, because its, well BERKELEY!

The problem arose when I was looking at the transfer courses need for UCB to apply as Rhetoric major, and the transfer courses need for Davis to apply as English major.

Here are the courses needed, according to assist.org:

Davis: ASSIST Report: ARC 07-08 UCD Articulation Agreement by Major.

Berkeley: ASSIST Report: ARC 08-09 UCB Articulation Agreement by Major

UCB's requirements are just IGETC, but Davis' are a lot more!

So right now, if I wanted to apply to Berkeley AND Davis, and hope for me to get accepted I have to finish the IGETC AND the lower division Davis courses?

I mean, thats a s*itload of classes! lol I'm going to call a counselor regardless of the info people tell me here, but I still wanted to know what you guys think!

tia!

Hey there, I'm applying for Rhetoric at Cal for Fall 09. The lower-division requirements to declare the Rhetoric major are Rhetoric 10 and 20, and since no other college offers comparable courses, then you have to take those two at Cal before you can declare.

As for Davis, I looked over the articulation, and that is a crapload of Lit classes, my god! Anyway, those classes overlap with IGETC requirements. I think that you should be set for the Humanities and English writing sections with all those classes. It's doable.

If I were you I would concentrate on finishing the requirements for Davis AND finishing the IGETC. I think that you'd be a strong applicant for the Rhetoric program with all those Lit classes under your belt seeing as Rhetoric is a literature-heavy program. And at the same time you'd meet Davis's requirements.

We're basically on the same boat so I'm doing the same thing, except that I'm doing pre-reqs for Philosophy programs.

The link you gave for UCD is for Engineering, thats why there so many more classes.

In addition, the courses listed on the Assist site for English program are not required to be completed for admissions. We highly recommend that these courses are completed since they are the lower division courses required for graduation. We prefer the lower division courses are completed so you can start into your upper division requirements when enrolling at UC Davis.

Since it appears you attend American River College at the moment I recommend you contact your Transfer Center and schedule an appointment with the UC Davis Transfer Opportunity Program Adviser (TOP Adviser) to help answer your questions.
