how can I destress from the college application process?

Hi everyone!
So I’m a senior this year and have already applied to some colleges, but I have not heard back from any yet. The mental strain of not knowing is killing me–I have nightmares about getting my admissions decisions, stress-eat (which is NOT good for my diet), and can’t focus on my upcoming applications! Does anyone have advice how to manage this stress? Thanks in advance!

Realize there is nothing you can do now that will change the outcome, as your applications have been submitted.
Exercise. Get some fresh air.
Find a good book to read/hobby to pursue.
Cut up some fresh veggies and keep them in a container in your fridge. Crunch on those when you want to stress eat.
Stay off college confidential.

You got a 35 on your ACT. If you applied to an appropriate selection of academic AND financial reaches, matches and safeties–all of which you have visited and can see yourself happily attending–you have nothing at all to worry about. These colleges WANT you to attend.

If, however, you are heavy on the reaches, or you haven’t adequately considered finances, it will be a long wait until March.

If you have done your best throughout HS and if you applied wisely to a mix of academic/financial reach, match, and safety schools there is nothing you should stress about. Just know you gave it your all and let the chips fall where they may. Go out with your friends and have some fun.

Lots of voluntarism happens over the holiday season. Go immerse yourself in giving to others. Your “problem” of picking and choosing between colleges that will chase you and your ACT 35 will pale in comparison to parents trying to feed kids, womens’ shelters bereft of volunteers, unprocessed donations at the Salvation army, etc.

Sorry but you’re simply losing perspective. A warm soft bed and a full stomach – not to be taken lightly.
