How can I get a 4.0 GPA?

You want to increase your cumulative, right? From a 3.4 to a 4.. that's going to be really difficult, especially since you're already a sophomore. My only suggestion is to take weighted, honors, or advanced placement courses and do really well (as in, don't get anything below an A-). I'm not even sure if that would pull it up quick enough. At least try, though.

No, transferer, I don't think anyone else is offended. Here's something that may offend you further:

A) Get over yourself. The world doesn't revolve around what you think.

B) Get a life. Stop *****ing and moanining over what people say on an internet forum.

C) Personally, I am "offended" that you hold yourself in such a high regard. The 1st Amendment protects even offensive speech, I hate to tell you.

pray to satan. hail satan!

Is it possilble to get over a 95 every marking period in al your classes for a whole year in Accellerated, and 3 AP's? (Junior Year)

^ I don't see why not..?

Any idea how?

Plus, wouldn't colleges consider an improvement in your grades from one year to another (if possible a dramatic... like from 2.8, to 3.5 to 4.0 each year) very highly, if not near the standard of a straight 4.0? Plus ofcourse, having good EC's.

...participate in class, study, do your homework?

Do your damn work, it's that simple.

This includes:

Listening, participating, and notetaking in class

Doing all your homework and other assignments ON TIME

Studying, if needed

Do those things, and you will get great grades. For me, I did #1 and half of #2 and ended up with an UW 87 average (not sure what that is GPA wise). If I would have done all my work I would have had at least a 93+ because I did very well on my tests, despite never studying. I guess I picked things up easily in high school and listening and writing notes was all I needed to do.

I was just too lazy to do anything outside class. I didn't mind listening in class, because I had to sit there anyway, why not get interested and learn?

Well, that's the only advice I can give you... it just takes effort.

Good advice.

Don't you guys think that GPA is so overrated? I mean, all it takes to get a high GPA is the ability to stay ontop of the little things and homework, etc. GPA is farthest away from measuring your intelligence or ability. Unfortunately colleges put so much weight on it.

Lol.

GPA does reflect intelligence if you have a half-decent courseload, but it also shows work ethic. If you have a bad GPA, however, it does not mean your dumb, but that your lazy or you just are inaccurate and don't pay attention to detail. Right now, my IB Math HL class has 2/3rds of it failing with only 1 B (me), and we're working our asses off, and that is saying there are two valedictorians in my class....

I think anyone who just does their homework every day and reviews notes consistantly can easily get a high GPA if not a 4.0. It reflects nothing else, unless ofcourse, you are in an advanced program like IB or a private school, then maybe its more rigorous.

4.0 doesn't mean you will get into an ivy. There are still a lot of folks who think it does...

gugliel...it seems you just described yourself...
i have the right to voice my opinion if you dont agree with it...then for all the reasons you listed..simply disagree and get over it.

I did state my disagreement, and I have moved on. I'm just continuing the argument because, as the resident angry, bitter cynic, I find it amusing.

OH NOES! He said something that vaguely generalizes Asians!

Generalization = death! murder! rape! suicide! (truly offensive things!)

I'm transferer! I must be a communist because I'm offended when someone references humor! We must send anyone who is not in line with our thinking to the Gulag! For the good of the state!

CC has its share of interesting individuals. There is the crowd that flips out if you make the slightest mention of bending the rules, the math/science crowd, the ivy-league-or-bust kids(wait, that's everyone here), the plagiarists (people who want others to post their essays), the moronic AP multiple-choice no discussion rule enforcerers, and the communists who are offended by HUMOROUS STATEMENTS.

Well, I don't know if your conclusion is entirely true A-san. GPA is incredibly important. Why? So that way you look exactly the same as the thousands of other highly qualified applicants applying to the same schools with ridiculously low acceptance ratings. So it seems GPA is really important to 'get you in,' but it is your personality (something that you should love to 'sell') that colleges will places the MOST emphasis on once you've demonstrated you can handle their curriculums.

hm..interesting
i think ill leave it at that because you have done more than enough in making yourself sound ridiculous
