I'm trying to enroll in williams' physics 1a class, but it's full. It's capacity is 192 people, and the waitlist is only 12 people. Both are full. What can I do to try to get in the class?

wait until people drop.

when do most people drop? like how many days/weeks into the quarter?

they drop all the time, so keep checking ursa i think

email prof for pte code with some amazing reason.

I'm in the same boat you are. I talked to a student peer advisor who also had this problem, and she said to just be persistent and keep talking to the professor the first week - go to lecture and office hours. She made sure he knew she needed the class, and after that week, he just said he'd take care of it for her.

yeah, i'll probably do what u said evelyn.

i emailed the professor and he said to talk to the "student affairs officer." so, i'll see how that goes...

Is it true that if the class is not impacted, they will somehow lift the enrollment cap and start letting people enroll?

depends on the professor usually.

yeah..not all non impacted classes will overenroll

Ask around about the PTE Generator ;)

Mind sharing about that PTE Generator?

I know nothing about it. . .

Thats why I said "ask around"

My bad, I was reading too fast and selectively read "ask about the PTE Generator".

when i was enrolling for fall the math cap for a certain class was 80, wheni went to enroll it was 120... some classes just get the max of students upped.

I have a tip that's worked for me. Go to class, keep up with the work, etc. After the 1st or 2nd meeting the prof is going to announce he's added all that he can, sorry to everyone else. Here's where my tip comes in. Don't do anything that day, but go to the following class meeting EARLY.

Intercept the prof by the door, give a 1-sentence reason of why you really need THIS class NOW, ask if he can add just 1 more student. Being wily, the prof will demur and say he'll talk to you about it at the end of class. He will then ask the class if anyone else in the room is trying to add. Since he said no more adds in the previous meeting, odds are good you're the only one. And in a class of 75+ adding just one more student isn't that big a deal, so you'll get in.
