Hello,
I am currently a junior in high school and will be applying early admission to CALS. I plan to major in animal science while following the pre-vet path. My test scores aren’t the strongest, so I’m a bit worried as to whether or not I can get in. Due to financial reasons, Cornell is really my only option for going out of state (because of their aid packages). How can I make myself stand out in the application? I think the amount of time I’ve spent doing agriculture related things, like FFA VP and President (11th and the upcoming year, respectfully), raising cattle, receiving Grand Champion for my hog, interning at a vet office and volunteering at the shelter, despite living in an urban area, would help. What else should I do from now until I apply, and what can I do on the application itself to help me get in? Thank you!
tbh you sound liek an extremely good fit with your experience.
Are you thinking about applying ED? If you are set on Cornell, then this may be a good option as it will show your interest.
What is your Common app essay going to be about? For your Cornell supplement, definitely talk about your experience with animals but try to tie it to how you could make an impact at Cornell - what research are you interested in doing, what events/clubs do you think you could be a part of?
Try to visit and learn as much as you can about the school and the program! That way it will come through in your essay.
