How can I raise my CR score?

Here's what I did with a practice test.

Subject

Score Range

Right

Wrong

Omitted

Critical Reading 420 - 480 30 37 0
Writing 480 - 610
( MC: 52-62 , Essay: 6 ) 32 17 0
Math 670 - 730 48 2 4

I see m y math is way above there, writing is average, but my CR is in deep *****!!!! I want to get into UCI.

taking it on march 14 sat

You need to read more--novels and magazines and newspapers and medical journals--so you improve your vocabulary and better understand other people's styles of writing, so you can better comprehend what the CR questions ask. Also, study SAT vocabulary words and take practice quizzes online, so you can ensure you at least get all the sentence completions correct. If you're willing or have enough money, enroll in an SAT prep course. Good luck! I'm also taking the SAT on March 14th, for the final time....shudder

Forget reading books, magazines etc if you are not a bookworm. Though I would recommend you to read some, but not alot, just to keep your reading comprehension fresh.

Then I would take a good time sitting down and learning strategies, traps, how to avoid traps, clues and testformat.

The SAT only asks you a limited range of questions. Master the different types and try to find what ETS are looking for. This is on individual level so you will have to find this out on your own while doing practice tests.

Then I would just make more tests and mastering your techniques. I as a non-bookworm, did go from 400 something with terrible results to a 610, without kissing my face to a book, just learning techniques, strategies on how to reason and finally the best tip of them all:
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!
