Im in 3 clubs at my school - 2 are fundraising/volunteer clubs and the other is a culture club
I applied for an executive position at one of the volunteer clubs but unfortunately didn't win :(
I'm secretary of the culture club
I'm a senior next year (class of 2013!) and I'm wondering how I can show leadership. It's probably too late to start a club.
1. What can I do over the summer to show leadership?
2. Will joining clubs and being chairperson of a food drive count as leadership?

I find myself asking the same questions…not everyone can be the class president, and not everyone can hold the executive position of a club, etc. Chairperson of a food drive would be a good thing. Perhaps try to start a club at school

UCR and Cal San Luis Obispo

wouldnt it be too late to start a club senior yr though?

I don’t think so. My friend, who just graduated, helped us start an informal debate club, and i’m a rising senior and i’m going to look into whether we can start Model UN again. I think that shows initiative, but it would personally bum me out to start a club and not be able to watch it blossom.

You can’t. Refute that.

create and organize a community service project

If you’re going to start a club and you’re going to be a senior, I would suggest having a junior shadow so they can take over for the next year.

You can become the leader of Sealand (prince or princess, depending on your gender). The population of Sealand (of one or maybe two people) sells those titles, and would be happy to grant it to whoever pays. People at the office of admissions at your school of choice will most definitely pee their pants after reading that you are the supreme ruler of a little known principality. Go for it.

For your volunteering clubs, organize a charity type thing to help less fortunate. By less fortunate, I don’t mean hobos on the street( u could if you want) but maybe getting toys or books for a local elementary school. Leadership doesn’t necessarily mean being president, it means showing you have value to the club.
