How can I show my interest?

Hello! I'm a high school senior who will be graduating next June (2011). I have applied to Stony Brook University, as well as a few other schools, but Stony Brook is my number one choice by far. I plan to major in computer science, as I've taken several related courses at my high school and have enjoyed them.

I've visited Stony's campus a few times, and I've taken a tour. I am really interested in it. If accepted, I would without a doubt choose it.

Is there any way I can display my interest? On the CollegeBoard website, "level of applicant's interest" is labeled as a factor for admissions. I'm worried that if I don't display enough interest, I may not be accepted.

I took the SAT in June this year, and scored a 1770 overall (550 CR, 650 math, 570 writing). I re-took it this October after preparing better, and I feel that I've improved a lot in writing, and also a little in CR. I'm hoping for an 1850+ overall score.

My GPA is about 3.3 (89-90%), and I am in the top tenth of my school. I go to James Madison High School in Brooklyn.

I'm a member of the Key Club (since junior year), and I've done some volunteer work at a local nature center.

I've completed two AP classes in my junior year, and I'm taking three more this year
Comp.sci(11), English lang(11), Chem(12), Statistics(12), Macroeconomics(12).

I've also taken three college-level courses: Topics in Science, Humanities, and College Planning.

I am a white male and my family makes an average salary.

What do you guys think my chances would be if I rose my SAT to 1850+? And how can I show my interest in Stony?

Thanks a lot!

Your statistics put you within the majority of applicants. Honestly, there really isn’t anything you can do to “show” your interest other than formulating a solid personal statement. This stands true especially for undergraduate admission, where the University receives tens of thousands of applications.
