How can i transfer to Cornell from NU?

Hey, so basically I’ll be joining NU’s community this fall but I’m not sure whether it is the right thing to do. I’ve heard that the social life there is entirely based on greek life and a bit superficial. Also although I declared my major I’m not sure what I entirely want to pursue. What I gathered from the information I got on this forum and other sites is that Northwestern is not the best choice for someone who hasn’t already sorted things out about their future. To sum it up I have the feeling that NU might not be the best fit college for me. Although I am keeping an open mind, incase I want to transfer to another school (specifically for Cornell and Brown) what would you advise me to do? I have been previously rejected by Brown and waitlisted by Cornell (but didn’t keep my place). What should my gpa be around and will I need to retake the sat?

Cornell is just as Greek and pre-professional as Northwestern. I recommend you to keep an open mind at NU; it’s a big-enough school where you can find your niche.

What are your stats and which other schools did you get into?

I’m from a french school in a foreign country so a very high sat wasn’t needed (2110 was my score from the old sat if you were wondering) My gpa is around 93 out of hundred. I was one of the two students who got accepted to Swarthmore from my country but my parents didn’t want me to go there because it wasn’t that well known around here (incase I want to come back here after college) I was also accepted by UCLA,Babson, University of Michigan and University of Virginia . ( also University College London and University of Edinburgh in England and University of Toronto in Canada)

The way you would do it is :do well at NU, in courses similar to what a freshman would take at Cornell.
Then submit a transfer application. Which will hopefully include a personal essay which provides a realistic and persuasive reason for why you want to transfer to Cornell.

Hope that helps.

You will need more persuasive reasons to transfer. Cornell has similar percentage of Greeks and smaller fraction of students majoring in arts & sciences (1/2 at NU vs 1/3 at Cornell). Keeping a truly open mind and forgetting heresay is the best approach.
