How come most of you have been interviewed already?

So, I'm an international applicant, and I haven't submitted any part of my application for RD anywhere (not applying ED). Since most of you seem to have been contacted/interviewed already, have you all also submitted your apps? If not, which part of your apps did you submit so they could sign you up for the interview? And by when do I have to submit that?

If I just submit everything together at around mid December, am I still good to go? Could I still get the interview? If not, is this a very significant disadvantage?

Ummmm… you’re reading a college admissions forum and you see posts of kids getting interviewed and “most of you have been interviewed already” is your conclusion???

You’re way off base. Some kids who have applied early action/early decision are getting interviews. Frankly, the huge majority of schools don’t offer EA/ED. Frankly the huge majority of schools don’t offer interviews too.

Of those that have alumni interviewing, they won’t schedule one before an application is submitted.

Well, it just sort of worried me that there’s a lot of active discussion about how everyone’s interviews went (and a lot of these kids are being interviewed from schools I applied to), which has me worried because my application is nowhere near complete just yet, and I don’t want to miss out on interviews just because I was unaware.

Just to clarify, most of the schools I’m applying too, esp. the reaches, do have alum interviews, and many of my fellow RD-ers from this forum who are from my country have gotten their interviews.

So again, if I complete and send my application by mid December, then I’ll safely get an interview when it’s processed and there will be no hassle, right? I don’t want to miss out on anything being careless.

The deadline for most RD schools is Dec 31. You aren’t missing out by being careless. Good luck to you.

Thanks, then!

Some schools give u a interviewer after suibmitting the app and some beforehand. It depends.

Off the top of my head … other than the military academies I can’t think of any colleges that require an application prior to an interview. Most schools that have interview are not contingent on an application. You might arrange an alumni interview in your native country if available.

So, wait. How do I arrange an interview without submitting the application? I just contact the school and request and interview?

Yeah, but you better know that u will apply there.

Donno what school it is you are applying to but if its GW i think you missed interviews unless they are going to conduct more after thank giving weekend. GW requires u fill out their prelim app before scheduling an interview. However since u are international u mite have different interview date or may have to speciffically contact the alum u will be interviewing with.
Good luck you’ll be fine either way. Most schools unless its a military academy, the interview isnt weighted tremendously however it can help quite a bit if your good at talking to someone i guess.
Oh and be prepared you may not have a face to face interview. Interviews maybe conducted over the phone thats what Northwestern did for me.
