How competitive is it to get into Foster school of business?

Pretty self explanatory

It’s very. Are you a minority?

D said during online chat few weeks ago they indicated that about 1/2 of all apps to UW listed Business Administration as major. Out of the those offered admission, they offer direct admit to 300-400 and usually end up with 200 for Freshman Direct. Next chance of admission is for Upper-Division Admission Group after 60 credits and required classes/gpa and admission is about 50%. I believe there used to be an Early Undergraduate Admission after 45 credits but I don’t see that on their website anymore. S said it is extremely competitive (not as much as CSE certainly) and the WSA can be problematic for some students. He had several friends with 3.5 and above gpas that did not get in last round.

I am african American. Does that help?

Also what happens to those students that do not get in? What options do they have?

If you don’t get in, you can apply at the end of your sophomore year I believe. You can still become a business major, being a direct admit doesn’t mean you won’t.

I mean what happens if you don’t get in after applying sophomore or junior year. Would you have to choose a different major

Yes. I had a friend major in communications after failing to get into the business school.

It’s pretty much the same no matter what major you are. If you can’t make it, you’ll have to do something else.

You could always transfer to UW Bothell or Tacoma and do business.
