I was just wondering if maybe someone could explain this to me, because I truly don't understand it!!!! Me and one of my best friends applied together at multiple colleges. One being University of Penn the fall of 08 and neither of us got in. Now I had a

GPA:3.58
SAT: 720 Reading
680 Math
700 writing
ACT: 32

On top of that I had 156 hours of community service and I was in multiple clubs.

I went to the University of Texas at Austin and my gpa is a 3.2 and just for kicks me and the same friend reapplied last fall 09 for pen and she GOT IN!!!!!!

I am happy for her but she had a

GPA: 2.6
SAT: Around 1350
ACT:19

She went to Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio Texas, her college GPA is a 4.0
but even though this is so she did less than ONE HUNDRED hours of community service. The only extracurricular activity she was apart of was orchestra and she didn't even want to do that. She barely showed up for the concerts.

I know that she did retake both her SAT and her ACT and she did score really high she didn't tell me her scores, and she is part of five student organizations at her new college. I am not part of one at UT of Austin.

But still I don't understand why I didn't get in and she did. At the time we applied we still had to apply as first time freshman because we both had less than 18 hours, which means that 2/3 of the decision is based off of our high school gpa. It is such a heartbreak because now I have to wait another year to apply as a transfer. And who knows if I will get in.

I know that she truly was accepted because she showed me her account on MypennApplicant!!!!!!!!!!!

I am truly upset, yet truly happy with her. Everything happens for a reason. But it would be nice if I had an explanation to why. I don't mean to sound mean or anything. This is just really disappointing.
