How did people do on essay on October Writing SAT?

I just got my score report and I got a 7 essay, wtf

it was insane critical lens, asking about how world of science collides with world or arts and how they have nothing to say to each other

they score the essays based on grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, and paragraph structure. To get a 12, you almost always need to do the following:

1) 5 paragaphs
2) clear intro, 3 bodies, clear conclu
3) vary sentence structure
4) make NO grammar mistakes (several grammar mistakes will be a killer, you'll get below 10 even with an awesome essay)

uhm, i'm pretty sure that was the nov. sat writing. If it wasn't, then oh boy i made quite a few mistakes on my applications.

wow that sounds like a really hard topic to write on. What examples did you use?

yeah that was the november essay. holy crappola the topic took my by suprise. i only got a 9 on it and I used the evolution/creation debacle for science/arts.

in myoct SAT writing da topic waz "A great decision was made when ......"

i thought i did it very well compared to the june test, but i got only an 8... in june i got a 7!

i hate the essay portion.. im a gud writer n have won many essay comp... but i like to take my time n analize topics i write on... i just cant think hard enough under so much pressure!

i got an 8 on the essay, and i used up the entire first page, and about 1/3 of the second page.

length matters pretty much the most. if you have a cohesive essay, and it is lengthy(use just about all the space), then you will get 10+

i got a 10

got a 10. I took the sunday test, and the topic was something like "closed doors lead to creativity. Explain your view".

My prompt for october was the great decision one. I wrote a decent essay- it's pretty ridiculous to write an essay in 20 minutes though. Guess it was good enough cus I got an 11. It's definitely good to talk about literature or history, it's better than personal experience in my opinion. The first time I took writing I used personal experience and got an 8- and also didn't do the last 10 questions by accident and got a crappy score as a result. The writing sat2 is pretty hard in my opinion but that's because I'm kinda dyslexic. Totally not fair, but hey I ended up doing well anyway.

I had the great decision one and it was really easy for me because it was so broad. I can see how it could be very hard to think of an example on the spot because there are so many thing you could write. But I had done five practice essays before and just changed one of them a little to fit this question. So doing practice tests helps not necessarily because you learn how to write a good essay quickly, but because you end up writing a lot of essays and can use one of them if you're lucky.

I got a 10 which I was pretty happy with b/c I am incredibly bad at writing quickly most of the time so I was expecting the essay to be my downfall.

I got a 9...

Mine was all over the place but i think what got me to EVEn get a 9 was my description of Monet and Einstein or something like that...

I took the October, wrote about transcontinental railroad, got an 11 or something, got an 800 on the test...

I got a 9 , my grammar sucks so MUCH

I wrote about how the world of art and scienc collide with each other...Leanardo Da Vanci ,Michael Angelo , Renassiance man , how your left brain should work with your brain brain( psychology terms) etc. I think my essay was great but the grammar killed my grade
