For those 2012 prospectives attended the Dimensions, would you please share your experiences here? Your fellow 2012 prospectives, especially for those who could not attend, may learn more about Dartmouth from you.

As an ED admit, it reinforced my decision for Dartmouth, but in the eyes of an RD applicant, I don't see how much it would convince them to come to Dartmouth.

I was almost positive I would attend Dartmouth before going to Dimensions. Although I didn't think the Dimensions Show on Thursday was as good as the hype (it got old and was a little too "propaganda" for my taste), the time I spent with current students really showed me the sense of community that Dartmouth has and reinforced my decision to attend. I think those experiences are much more important the the activities and tours that were going on.

yeah no one really hyped the show; it was supposed to be a surprise. A few members of the Class of 2011 pretended to be and mingled with prospective students, and kept saying how boring it would be.

Guess it depends on who you hung out with. Most of the students I talked with said that the show would be incredible and let on that there would be a surprise.

I wasn't there, but my S decided to go to Dartmouth after attending. He said that everyone seemed to actually be glad to meet them and cared about whether they came to Dartmouth (in great contrast to the disappointingly awkward coldness and "superior attitude" of students at the U of C, his other top choice).

They really ARE glad to meet prospies and tell them about how much they love their school and they really embrace them when they arrive in the fall, and then as students become upperclass students, they in turn extend the welcome to the new class. It makes for a great college experience. See this article about the number of students who apply for the opportunity to work on the pre-orientation trips -

I hosted 4 prospies...my hallmates took about 1-2 each. The reason for 4 was that I'm in a suite with 3 other guys. We took them out to play frisbee on the green, go to random events/dinners, and took them out to party at the frats.

And yes, we are sincerely, sincerely are happy to invite you into the family...b/c the school spirit here is absolutely ridiculous and I love it. "School spirit" as in true appreciation of the college and everyone in it. Not say... the basketball team or a specific department...although those are the **** too. Haha.

SOOOOOOO to all the 12's, WELCOME TO DARTMOUTH.

Anyone can PM me for a Windows Media Video version of this, if they don't have facebook, or if they want to keep it for the memory. I'd post the link, but I'm not allowed to post personal site links.
