Dimensions?

Hey, does anyone know anything about Dimensions this year?
Is it just for people who aren't sure if they are going to Dartmouth?
Also, any ideas as to when it will be?
Thanks.
Oh, and congrats Class of 13!

While it is primarily intended for those who aren't sure if they are going to Dartmouth, those who are already decided, as well as ED admits are definitely encouraged to come. I would also say that it is definitely worth it to come!

Now that I think of it, there's literally no events that are specifically 'why you should come to Dartmouth.' The weekend basically consists of hundreds of events sponsored/run by nearly every student organization/academic department/ student resource center/ administrative branch on campus.

At least one or two of the fraternities will even have a dry dance-party that would allow prospective students to attend. (Getting into a 'real' party requires knowing somebody).

Also, I forgot to mention that if you got in ED, you need to make arrangements on your own hosting arrangements. (try and reach out to Dartmouth students from your home town)

For me, it was a ton of fun, and I made 2 friends who I ended up being very close with at school.

Also, I think this year especially is going to be a lot of fun (b/c I'm going to be helping to run it). We've got a lot of fun surprises for you!

If anyone has the date that Dimensions will be this year (if it's even known yet) I would appreciate knowing it. I'm trying to figure out if schools I'm looking at are going to have overlapping visiting days in April.

great. thanks for the info dartmoose
I really want to go. So its cool for ed admits to go too then?
I never got a chance to see the dorms, and I'd love to get a better feel for the atmosphere, even though I'm definitely going to go there :)

ED admits can definitely go. You just need to find your own housing. (You should try and stay in a hotel, or with friends/family members at Dartmouth)

hey dartmoose i have the same question has honfclibur-
do you happen to know the dates for dimensions?
im have to pay, by next week, the deposit for a school event in april but i have a feeling it will overlap with college visits. :/

I couldn't find the official dates written down anywhere... but, I know it will either be April 9th-11th, or April 16th-18th. It's more likely the 16th-18th though.

Okay great, just housing. That shouldn't be a problem.
So is it always in April?

Yes, it's always in April, because it has to be after people know they've been accepted (March 31st) and before they have to send their decisions in (May 1st).

oh, so it is a thurs-sat program?
thanks so much dartmoose, at least i have some idea now. :)

It's unlikely to be in the 9-11 timeframe, because that's Easter and Passover.

At least, so I would think.

great! very helpful thanks

its 4/16-4/18 for sure. just got an invitation :)

um... should i have gotten an invitation?

^

I think the invitation only came w/ a likely letter.

Come to Dimensions you 13's!!! It should be amazing you guys will get to see what Dartmouth is all about. Discover whether you want to be here for 4 years or not...the choice will be easier once you come and see Dartmouth for yourself.

Happy Picking!!! :D

And don't worry about not getting likely letters. It really doesn't mean that you were not accepted. It actually is a nicer surprise when you get that big fat envelope in the mail!

ED-accepted '13s, definitely come to Dimensions if you can. It's a lot of fun and you get to see the school in a whole new way. It definitely will help you understand what's in store for you in the next 4 years.

I'm so psyched for dimensions! i haven't seen dartmouth yet, so this will be a great experience for me. plus i get to visit my buddy Christian (he's a '12)! definitely promises to be a momentous few days.

so, if we applied RD and got a likely letter, Dartmouth WILL provide us with housing for Dimensions?
