How did people do this past fall semester? grades wise and list major too, and if u think your major or other factors affected your grades.

Civil engineering, Graduating May 2016.

Got a 4.0 this semester, raising my cumulative gpa from a 3.90 to a 3.92. I was pretty worried before finals, but it was merely because of nerves since my averages were ~20% higher than the class average. I’m basically building a big safety net because I won’t be taking classes for a year, don’t know how that will affect me. And I need to get into grad school with funding in the future…

I am so thrilled! I got two A+s and 3 As. I am pursuing a double degree, BA in Art History and BIS in an IT related concentration that I am still working out the details on. I am very motivated and worked hard last semester, so I’m glad it paid off. Going to be tough to top or even match that next semester but I’m going to try. I will have a heavier academic load.

Overall I’d say first quarter went quite well. Pre-Bio major, 3.72 GPA (.03 away from making dean’s list girr!) and made a ton of new friends. I didn’t work last quarter because I wanted to solely focus on academics and adjust to the transition from high school to college, but this upcoming quarter I plan to work about 20hrs a week and join two clubs. Good luck everyone with your upcoming quarters/semesters and happy New Year!

Sophomore physics major, with math minor

I managed to hang on to my cumulative 4.0 for another semester. We’ll see how much longer that goes though, I’m going to have some hard classes the next couple of years.

Sophomore Writing and Rhetoric and French Language and Literature double-major.

I got a 3.875 this semester and a 3.93 overall. My major GPAs are 3.95 for Writ & Rhet and 3.95 for French. I still technically got all As, but at my university, only a 98% and up is considered a 4.0 in the College of Arts and Sciences, which is where both of my majors are located.

Not that it’s really an excuse, though. I mean, I actually got two 97s this term, but that makes for two 3.9s. I’m still really proud, and in my opinion, I’m still “acing” college since my lowest grade ever has been a 93% 3.7, which is still considered an A here.

I’m hoping to keep at least a 3.8 average, but this next semester is gonna be killer with 3 upper-level writing classes that grade somewhat harshly. Plus, I’ll have a lot of reading to do, which is easy to get behind in.

Ah yes, one of my favorite threads on CC. Just keep in mind, while everyone in here is passively bragging about their grades, a lot of factors need to be considered. Major, year, school, etc. If you’re on CC, you’re obviously a good student. If you didn’t get a 4.0 or 3 A+s or whatever, just remember to keep it all in perspective. Maybe your 3.5 is actually more impressive. Then, eventually, you’ll get to the point in your Jr or Sr year where you just don’t care anymore.

Happy New Year

That’s well worth keeping in mind. A 4.0 your first semester of your freshmen year when you’re taking low level major courses and a bunch of GenEds is nowhere near as impressive as having a cumulative 3.5, 3.6, 3.7 etc when you’re a junior or senior taking nearly all upper level major courses. It’s all about perspective.

Like I said, I just finished my first semester of my sophomore year, and I’ve held on to my 4.0, but I’m also going to be getting into a lot of the courses that are considered some of the more difficult courses in my program soon. That 4.0 might not last.

I am happy with the way this semester turned out. It was my first semester so I was worried bc I had awful habits but at the end it worked out- I got 2 A’s, 2 A-'s a B and a Pass- I’m and education & english major

Yeah, I agree that this is all truly subjective. It’s also pretty early (at least for myself and any other sophomores/freshmen). I’d love to time travel to the future and see how my junior and senior years turn out!

At the end of the day, if you did your best, then you should be satisfied. If you didn’t do your best, then you have ways to improve.

A’s and B’s, which puts my GPA at around 3.6. This was my fourth semester. I gotta admit, though, that I slacked off at times, especially for my Children’s Movement class because that class is just ridiculous in terms of projects we had to do outside of class and the information we were expected to learn. My other class was the freshman class I had to take with a Writing flag (about time I took it). I accepted my B and moved on because I didn’t want to (and didn’t have the time) to revise my research paper for something better. Same thing goes for my three-hour class, which was nothing but lecture and papers to write.

This semester I’ll start my upper-division classes, which will include a lot more lesson plans.

I’m a Bilingual Ed. major, by the way.

Freshman psych major…3.6 gpa… :(

Junior Biological Sciences major. I had my toughest semester academically but pulled off a 3.85 (two A-'s and two A’s). I’m especially happy about my A in writing because I had a very tough professor and had to overhaul my essays a bunch of times before he was impressed with them.

Got an A- in my last semester of ochem! Going out in style wooo!!

6 As and 1 A-. 3.96 GPA. First semester, senior year.

I’m in my last semester now. Totally coasting. Three and a half years of working myself to the bone. Time to relax.

Freshman International Studies Major…4.0 :D

Yay, at least 1 A minus less than expected! Maybe the professor felt bad or something~it’s almost impossible to get a solid A of 940/1000 pts…
GPA Pending: 1 more possible B+/A-/A (hoping A, current grade is an A-) depending on final (professor, grades are due today and you have 45 minutes!)
If I do get that.

4 A’s, 1 A-?
First year calculations if I do get an A-, otherwise 4.0:
Overall: 3.96
Sac State GPA: 3.93
Electrical Engineering Major (Physics, DE, Calc III): 4.00
After all, the engineering majors have the lowest average GPA of the whole university.
End goal: Minimum Sac State GPA > 3.9, generally as close to 4.0 as possible, darn this semester might ruin perfection.

Freshman, Undecided but considering Applied Math.

Would get a 4.0 if first semester’s grades weren’t covered. All that work for nothing, lol…
