Today on my tour my guide said that you can apply to only one of the five schools, and if you are rejected then thats it. I am interested in the SOM but I know it is not easy to get in to, and I would hope to still attend BU as an economics major at Harpur if I am rejected. But apparently this is not allowed.

Do you think that a 1450 SAT (CR 690, 760 M) and a 96 GPA is high enough to get into the SOM?

That is probably good enough to get in but space in SOM is limited. Unfortunately since I am only a student I am not authorized to give out much more information on that. In terms of if you apply to one school you are automatically rejected if you don’t get in is not 100% true. Sometimes people apply to one school and their grades are good but they don’t make the cut to that specific school, sometimes they will be offered a spot in Harpur College of Arts and Sciences. Sometimes there just aren’t enough spots in the other schools since they accept a lot less students and they are much more competitive than harpur.

Those are good stats, but that does not mean that you will definitely get in. I know people with similar stats who have been rejected by Binghamton SOM but have been accepted to Cornell or Boston College …

I just checked my status and it said i was accepted into the SOM.My cumulative GPA is 3.7,and major is 4.0. I was a transfer student. Therefore i would like to say anyone whose GPA is higher or similar to me, he or she would have a good chance of getting in.

Hey “gsccl”! When did you complete submitting the required documents?
I applied to SOM on Feb 11, 2009 and did not receive a decision yet.
If you get accepted, do they notify you by email and website?

Hi, capwoo…I submitted my suny application in the late of january. However, my documents were arrived by March 2nd according to their records. Has your status already changed to be “Complete ready for review”? If so, i guess you will gey your decision in 2 or 3weeks. I didn’t receive the email yet, probably because they just made the decision yesterday. All decisions will be available online since April 16, so i think you only need to check your status once a day. Good luck to you:)

What is your major? I called Bing. yesterday and the counselor told me that transfer applicants who applied to Accountancy will take more time compare to other majors since accounting major at Binghamton is the most competitive one.
I assume that none of accounting major applicants received their decision yet.

I got into binghamton as an accounting major. The accounting program is really hard to get into, especially now that business declared us #2 in the nation.

From what i’ve heard, the average SOM SAT score for the class of 2013 is a 1410.

But I only got in the 1300’s so i think the range covers a big area. haha.
