How difficult is it to transfer to SUNY Binghamton?

How difficult is it to transfer to SUNY Binghamton? I am planning to attend Westchester Community College and transferring to either SUNY Buffalo or Bing... which is better for Biology Major?

I dont think its too difficult...I'm at SUNY ALBANY now but transferring out. Binghampton is definently the best of the SUNYs.

About Buffalo, I know someone here in Albany who applied to transfer to UB and got in with a college GPA around 2.8. But it could be easier to get in if you already attend a SUNY. I think she applied for Spring semester during her soph. year. She didn't end up going though.

Oh, Westchester Community College is SUNY

if u do well at WCC u should be fine. the 4 year sunys take a lot of transfers from the 2 year ones. buffalo u'll get in as long as u have about a c average. go for bing though, its a much better school-aim for above a 3.5 GPA and u should get it.

I've been hearing about how bad Bing is lately.. is it really worth it?

Hey man, don't hate on Binghamton. It's my home town and I love it :-D. The university I don't know a ton about, even though I know like 106 people there. It's a pretty campus and it's close to a very commercial area, so that's nice. I know they are supposed to have the best academics of the SUNYs, but I can't vouche for that either. My mom has taught a few classes there though, and she used to teacher at Syracuse and Cornell, so hey - ivy education for less, right? Basically if you want to know about the actually city of Binghamton, I can help you. But I'm sure a million people on here can tell you about the school as well.

Found out today that I was accepted! 1230 SAT 3.2 GPA and 12 credits - So excited!

I visited friends at Bing last fall and loved it. Academically, it seems pretty solid. So, I imagine, in an era where finances are an issue, it’s a competitive alternative.

From what I understand, Bing is known for hard sciences. So, it’d probably be a great place for bio.

I also visited a friend at Binghamton, just this past month actually. It’s very good academically, dorms are interesting (kinda tight spaces in some buildings-my friend’s suite looked like somebody’s corner office, so I found that kind of odd), it’s definitely a place for hard sciences (by that we don’t mean difficult, we mean as in not social sciences, lol) and it’s got a nice campus.

One thing that’s undoubtably clear, the campus is primarily asian. Not saying anything by that, just something I noticed, they say it’s 1/4th but my friend there thinks it’s far more, haha. Just a note, in case you’re coming from a town with little diversity. But yeah, you could definitely get in for transfer. Buffalo has Pharmacy if you were planning on doing that and it’s a little nicer, IMO, but Bing has better academics.

I noticed a big Asian population, too. There’s at least two, regularly published, student magazines directed at Asians on campus.
