I've heard people say Dickinson is fairly diverse, but I've also heard people say it's like walking into a J. Crew catalog. How diverse is it, and in what aspects is it diverse? Thanks.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s anything like a J. Crew catalog. Yeah, some people dress really nicely, but there are also plenty of people walking around in sweats. I’m wearing sweats right now People are not judgmental about that stuff at all. My high school was extremely racially and religiously diverse, so I did notice a definite drop in diversity when I came here, but that being said, there is a huge minority presence on campus in many regards. Multiculturalism is celebrated frequently and in my experience, people of different backgrounds get along really well. Dickinson is also really diverse in terms of the activities people are involved in, both academically and extra-curricular. People will surprise you with the variety of things they’ve done. Liberal arts and interdisciplinary work are really important to the professors, and they’ll encourage you (and sometimes force you) out of your comfort zone, which I’ve really enjoyed.
