How do college recommendations from teachers actually work?

Hey. I am going to be a senior in HS next month, and during my summer vacation, I began preparing my college apps.

Some of my junior year teachers asked if I wanted a recommendation from them and I of course said yes.

Currently, my English, History, and Journalim teachers are writing a letter of recommendation for me.

Over the summer, I created my resume, which details my academics (GPA, AP Scores, SAT scores, SATII scores, etc.), extra-curricular activities, volunteer work, and accolades for them

So after they finish writing their recommendation, what do they do with it?

Is it standard procedure for them to show me the recommendation or do they just hand it into my guidance counselor?

I haven't actually told them what college I am applying to and thus haven't actually given them the "actual college ap portion for the teacher recommendation".

So say that I decide to apply to Georgetown University; will they be able to attach the letter of recommendation they are writing to me to that application?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

They will need to send their letters directly to the college, in most cases. You will need to provide envelopes.

As for their knowing your academics, etc., I'm afraid that's the kiss of death. They won't be telling any colleges anything the colleges can't learn from other parts of your application. Letters like that are called "standard strong," and do nothing to differentiate students.

Ideally, your teachers would talk about why they like having you in class, what you bring to the learning environment, your maturity relative to other kids they've had, etc. That fills out the picture, while simply recounting your accomplishments is just rehashing what colleges already know.

It depends on your school. At our school, the teachers give the letters to guidance. Guidance makes copies and sends them to the colleges you are applying to allong with the GC recommendation and your transcript.

Ask your guidance dept how they handle things.
