Say you have your heart set on getting a math major. When applying to college, will colleges care if you get all B's in English and History (while receiving all A's in Math and probably science)? I know that they do care, of course, but do they weigh the grade values differently, meaning do they care more that you got all A's in Math and Science? Do they let the B's slip a little because they're not exactly related to your field of study? Same thing goes with other majors, like English or History.

Alot of people change their majors so admitting people based on their intended major wouldnt be a good idea.

Some people can get away with only being strong in the math subjects if they have outstanding credentials to back it up. Now this goes beyond grades, like the ability to do beastly math proofs or testing well at a national level, like USAMO. I'm sure a college would rather have a USAMO kid with perceft scores in math and cs in english, than the BWRK.

If you are applying to a science-focused school, then they will care more about your math/science grades. Of course they will still care about the other grades, but not as much as the math/science ones.

If you are applying to a LAC with not a real focus on science, then vice versa.
