I'm only a freshman in high school now, but I was curious as to how the colleges view your grades. Do they see only your GPA or can they see your individual averages for classes as well.

The question I have behind this is that if it would be better for me to be put into honors English and receive a 5.6(/5.0) GPA for an A+ or remain in standard English for a 4.6(/5.0) GPA.

Which would look better for college? (Assuming the average in Honors is about 7 points lower)

Your guidance counselor can tell you what your school's transcript will look like. Ususally classes are listed individually (designated as honors or AP if applicable) and transcript shows your final grade for each course. Most schools have a brief explanation of their scale and weighting system too. There's a lot of variation in other things that are included--some list ECs on the transcript but some don't for example. I agree with mj93 that colleges like to see rigorous coursework.

Clearly, it is not lacking in either science or math, so that being said is Honors English still very important to my application for a business or math school?

Your school sends kids off to lots of good colleges. Why not make an appointment with guidance to talk things over? S/he knows just what coursework/grades/scores resulted in admissions from to schools you may be interested in. It might not be a dealbreaker if you don't take honors English (and it seems like you really don't want to take it) but there's something to be said for exploring areas outside your main strengths.

I do want to take it, however it's a bit late in this point of the year to be moved to honors English. I do have an average between 95-100 in standard class with ease, but my teacher seems to have something against me getting put into honors. I've asked her before and also my guidance counselor. The counselor said she can't do anything without something from my teacher.

You have plenty of time to take honors English in the future. Since you're doing so well now it seems likely that your school will be willing to put you in honors next year. I really wouldn't worry to much about it right now. Some colleges don't even look at freshman grades. Just keep up the good work : )
