I did very well on my last month's ACT and I am satisfied with my score. However, I don't know what my English/Writing score will be yet. It will probably bring my English score down, which I'm ok with, but I'm afraid that it will bring my composite down. So how do colleges view the English/Writing subscore?

Writing subscore and the combined English/Writing subscore have no effect on your composite. I have heard certain colleges don’t place high regard on the writing score. So you may want to find out the score policy for colleges you may want to apply to.

it depends on the school. some will toss it aside, and others will place a lot of weight on it. it’s best to email your admission counselor or check the website

If you are submitting the ACT w/ Writing but not the SAT, the English/Writing score would be equivalent to a score on the SAT Writing section (ACT without Writing would give you a rough CR+M conversion without the writing).

And the E/W score will not affect your composite.
