How do I change my major after being accepted as transfer

So here's the thing - I got accepted into the Rutgers Arts & Science School as a transfer student and was planning to major in Economics there. However, I realized that Economics is not for me and I want to change my major to something else. Is this too late? I am extremely confused and frustrated that I don't know what to do. I have to register for Fall 2012 classes but I have absolutely no idea on what classes I need to take. Can someone please help me? Thank you so much.

It is not too late at all. You were accepted to the School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers, not to the economics major. Here at Rutgers we do not make admissions decisions based on specific majors, but on the school to which you are applying. If you indicated a major it is only so that we can send you the right promotional material and perhaps get you in touch with someone from the department you indicated (economics) so that they can help you declare your major. You still have the option to major in whatever you would like in the School of Arts and Sciences. You will be attending a STAR day where academic advisors will help you register for classes.

I don’t think it’s too late

Did you not register for your classes back in April? Most classes are closed at this point, because students finished registering for their Fall 2012 classes a month ago. I’m afriad it MAY be too late at this point to change your major and register for your major classes; many classes are filled up right now and they rarely open up. But this, of course, depends on what new major you’re going into.

It’s not too late to change major/classes.

a) Get your major changed, they won’t rescind your acceptance. I actually did the exact same thing on the day I had to go in and choose classes…

b) Even if the classes you want in the new major are full, just keep bugging the secretaries of the department for special permission numbers to take the classes and pick them up during the add/drop period during fall semester.
That’s what one of my friends did every semester (since he never seemed to register on time…) and he always got every single class he wanted.

Although the courses may appear to be full according to webreg, it is possible that some spots were saved for transfer students so although it may appear to be full, an academic advisor may be able to get you in at STAR day.
