How do I convince my parents to let me go to UCSB?

^^ My brother majored in Marine Bio at UCSB-which is a similar major. UCSB is good for any science in general, as they base it on a lot of research and encourage the students to do more hands-on, researchy (for the lack of a better term) type stuff.

And yeah that is a good sign! Being able to talk about it rationally and expressing your viewpoint even if it differs from theirs shows maturity-which may help them feel more at ease that you will make the right decisions in college, even if you go to a "party school" (I do not believe in the party school stereotype-so don't jump on me for this people. I'm just looking at what the parents are looking at.)

Santa Barbara is a beautiful place - we have gone whale watching , canoeing etc.
But what we were most impressed was the college for creative studies since d wants to major in Biochem. You do research in undergrad level , class sizes are small and taught by profs. who care. What do you want to major in?

I just saw that you want to major in Bio. They have excellent program . Check out the website for CCS
College of Creative Studies, UC Santa Barbara
You can apply even now since they have rolling admission

This is really negative but you can always ramp out the other schools.
Such as UCSC's huge drug scene
or that it is said that UCR students are some of the unhappiest students around.

Plus, UCSB is much better academically.

^ that isn't a good idea.

It could just put UCSC on the "COLLEGES MY DAUGHTER CAN NOT ATTEND" list....right under UCSB.
