How do I convince parents to let me go out of state?

Hello. I am 18 years old, and I am very soon I am going to be attending college. I have applied to 8 colleges, but it's only come down to 2 schools now. I live in Dallas now, and the 2 schools are UT Austin, and USC. Now, my parents want to move to Austin, so if I attend UT Austin, I could live with them. I want to go to USC, as it is an excellent school. My parents claim that I am trying to "run away from them", which is not the case. My only non-intermediate family is in North Dakota, so it would a completely new start for me in California. How do I convince them to let me move to Cali?

Shouldn’t you have already accepted an offer by now? If you accepted USC, problem solved!

Assumng you are not trying to run away from them, you should already have a list for why USC over UT Austin.

Finally, if they are moving to Austin just to be with you, maybe you should be running away!

What is the cost difference?
Could you go to UT Austin and live in the dorms?
