So I got a D first semester in biology and I retook it and I got a B but Do I replace the D with the B or what? The second semester for biology I got a C. I asked my high school counselor but she doesn’t know what to do.
Have you checked this guide?
https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/freshman/Documents/freshman-coursework-entry-guide.pdf
From the guide:
- If you repeated a course, enter the highest grade(s) earned for the course. Do
not enter this repeated course twice. - If the repeated course is planned or in progress, enter the original grade earned,
as well as the planned or in progress course as a new grade has not yet been
earned.
Okay I did that thank you.
My counselor told me to be RP for repeats
@josini95: Repeat course grade entry for Freshman is different than for Transfers. The above information in post #2 is for Freshman applicants which is what OP is applying.
in this same vein… if courses were repeated over the summer, but at a different school (but appears on the hs transcript) how would you report those? report all grades? on the transcript it has an R, and no credit was given as far as units since course was repeated, but the old grade is still listed. hs considers it a repeat, though it was taken online at another school. also should transcripts be sent from these online high schools, though grades are already on transcript?
For Cal States, if the course has been repeated, you only list the new grade. The Cal states will require a transcript from the on-line school even if the course is also listed on the HS transcript since it will be listed as another school.
for some reason, the way I read the instructions, it says that a repeated course is one that has the same name and is taken at the same school… do you interpret this differently? i appreciate your help! the online help is pretty bad… they told me to report all classes including PE…
You only report a-g courses and PE is not considered an a-g course.
You are also correct that to replace a grade, the repeat course must be the same course name. I am aware that some HS’s do offer on-line alternatives that would be considered the same course so does your HS have this option for this course is the course completely separate from the HS? If it is listed on the HS transcript, I would assume it is considered the same course?? If not, then it probably is not a suitable replacement for the original course and grade. You should ask your HS counselor.
