edit: how many YEARS of housing. oops :)

It should say on your acceptance letter. If not, just call student services and ask them.

mmm says nothing. maybe people that are offered 4 years are notified (which would mean i got offered 3). i'll call them monday though, thanks!

it does say i got 3 in my acceptance letter.... how is this decided?

If i remember correctly when I visited over the summer my tour guide said usually something like the top 10% or so of the incoming class is given 4 years and I believe all nursing students get 4 years as well after that I think it may just be random

Exactly what hazel said. The top 10% of students receive 4 years of housing and then everything else is random. I believe it's something like 50% of the class gets 4 years of housing.

i was considering BC, but now my parents definitely won't let me go

If someone who was given 4 years of housing (like me) decides not to attend can another student who at first was only given 3 years be offered 4? I wonder how that works... and if you are only given 3 years is it still possible that you could get on campus housing for your 4th year? Just because people are guranteed 4 years of housing doesn't mean they"ll take advantage of it...

Yes, students who have 3 years of housing are able to file a housing appeal for their junior year of school so receive housing on campus. Students may not necessarily receive that extra year of housing, but it is possible. Many juniors also go abroad during their junior year, which opens up more room for housing for students.

Dear tromboneplayer91 : Do not make your decision about BC on the three-year versus four-year housing commitment. Apartments one to two blocks off campus are in abundance and BC will help you with this. Further, remember that many off campus junior year students mean open housing spots on campus. Seriously, I know it is hard for a high school senior to see it this way, but three years from now you might WANT to be off campus. This is not a deal breaker if BC is a top choice for you.

i understand that, it's my parents who don't

Do they just not want you living off campus at all? Because chances are you could get housing on campus junior year if you didn't want to study abroad. If that's really a critical factor though you could maybe even appeal to get four years guaranteed if you let BC know what the situation was. I'm just curious here, but what other colleges have you applied to? Because as far as I've read, four years of guaranteed housing is pretty rare at most places.

are you allowed to live at home and commute?

oops, it does say i got 3 years. i guess i should get new glasses :)

how many sheets of paper did you get??? I got two and I read it over and over again, but still couldn't find the number of years I am offered.

It's on the first page (the letter that was on top of the pamphlet-type thing) and should be in the third paragraph. "Please note that you have been assigned ____ years of campus housing."

oh thanks!!! I think I need to get a new pair of glasses too haha. It was in letters not number, so I overlooked it! YAY, four years!

anybody accepted EA know how to figure out how many years you have?

EDIT: never mind, i'm dumb. and only got three.

sick, i'm in the top 10% then i guess!

i wish i got into the honors program though. If i don't get into Brown or Tufts tomorrow that would have really pushed me towards choosing BC over Duke.
