How do I find out which schools, particularly the Ivies, want mid year grade reports?

I've just been informed by Barnard that they wanted my mid-year grade report by Feb. 1, but not by email or anything. I randomly went on my decisions page, and it said that they were due.

How do I find out which schools need a mid-year report. No one has sent an email saying that my application was incomplete. I don't want to send mid-year reports needlessly because this was my worst semester ever!

Columbia
Dartmouth
University of Chicago
University of Pennsylvania
Boston university
Cornell
Brown University

Does anyone know whether these schools need mid-year reports?
Also, do I have to send MY reports through the Common App or can my counselor mail each institution my transcript from this semester?

That’s not the kind of question you ask here, while they may have the best intentions, members could make mistakes or have old information. Go to the primary source, the college website, and see whether or not they require a mid-year report, here’s an example:

It should take you a few minutes to get information you know is correct.

Your high school’s registrar may already have sent them. This would have been the case in some high school’s with which I’m familiar. So ask your guidance counselor and/or registrar if they have sent the mid-year reports, and, if not, ask them to send them.

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/MemberRequirements.aspx

Type in the college name and look on the right side under “MR” and if checked, the school requires a midyear report…

All the colleges you list and all ivies require a mid-year report.

Yes, all those schools require it. Don’t sweat the timing, just ask your guidance counselor to get them in early next week. Our school does not even have final 1st semester grades out by Jan 31 (they are available at about that time, but it takes several days for them to get the report in).

Those schools are all common app, I think. Just go into your common app and look under school forms to see what it says in green to right of ‘midyear report’. If it doesn’t say ‘downloaded by college’ or… can’t remember what it said after it was sent but not yet downloaded, maybe ‘sent to college’?, then you need to talk to GC. He should already have started this process. At our school, student has to pay Parchment to send the most recent version of transcript electronically to common app before GC sends the midyear report out, but your school may have some other process for attaching the transcript.

And ^ what intparent said. My D’s were all downloaded 2/8. That was the first day transcripts were available to attach, though GC had the rest of report ready to go some time before that. If it hasn’t gone out yet you can ask GC to add any recent pertinent info to report- solos performed, contests won, NMF status attained, etc.

As far as I know, don’t all common app schools want a midyear report?
