How do I find relevant jobs/internships in high school?

I'm a junior in high school right now and would love some relevant experience in the finance or banking industry. If I do try to pursue some sort of internship this year, or over the summer, while I'm not looking for any top companies to work for later on, I would like to work for a decent company that showed me what was involved in the banking industry.

So how would I go about finding a very basic internship around me? I'm 17 now and live around a small urban area in South Carolina, so I should be able to find something around here.

Which part of the state do you live in?

Upstate SC, fairly close to Greenville if you’re familiar with the area.

Does your HS have a business department? Some HSs offer internship programs for credit and help find placements for you or at least assist you. If not, ask people in your community for ideas and suggestions and write a resume and cover letter and email key people. It is plain old sleuthing to find what’s out there, but networking with people you know and who are in a position to assist you is key to getting your foot in the door. An internship is like finding a job. Some are paid, some are not. The experience is valuable either way. It is good you are thinking about this now, as it is better to start early for summer. Good luck!
