How do I find roommates for student

Your student will figure it out. My oldest went with a friend, my next 2 went random, both worked out well, my son and his roommate had different interests (his roommate was gay but that wasn’t it, they just had different friends), my 20 year old’s roommate from freshman year will probably be a bridesmaid someday (they moved off campus with 4 others this year).

On campus or off? And maybe you could help or support, but hoping he can find a roommate himself.

If you are asking about a roommate for a specific college, you might get better information posting in that college subforum…or at least naming the college.

off campus, just dont know how to find one, is there a list at the school

i am unable to find that college subforum

Often schools have lists, yes, and there are also Facebook pages that students (and sometimes parents, separately) use. My kids have used craigslist as well. One option can be to rent the place and then find roommates, but he can also join a household looking for a new or additional member.

Some college housing offices do have lists of off campus housing…is that what you are looking for?

Really…your student should be doing this!

She is looking for people who are needing roommates

Have your child join the accepted students social media pages and check with the housing office.

The housing office referred us to Room Sync but the site does not list pole looking for roommates

For off campus the college probably won’t help. Is the kid a freshman and doesn’t know anyone yet? Then look for an accepted students Facebook group. If she is sophomore or above and on campus, then she needs to start asking around to kids she knows.

Thank you for your tips

Again, two of my kids have used craigslist on more then one occasion.

Have her look on instragram.

There are sometimes landlords or student housing complexes that will room mate match for you. They tend to be more expensive by bedroom, but since the contracts are by bedroom rather than jointly liable there is less financial risk if a room mate is unreliable. In other words, in a two bedroom unit you’d only be responsible for your student’s portion, not for both.

Call the school’s housing office and ask.

Most students use Facebook or Instagram. My son’s schools have a Facebook page specifically for their class.

If your school has a parents Facebook page I would join. Usually a wealth of information.

Check you messages. I replied to yours.

Try reddit. There is very likely a subreddit for the school.
