There are currently 3 schools I'm really looking at: UcB, Nyu, and Cal tech. Im currently doing all the prerequisite's to try and get into UcB Haase(and i feel like ill probably wind up there), but my Dream School is Cal tech. So i was curious as to how hard its going to be to try and transfer there from a ccc or if that's even possible (i have read there websites info on transfer admissions).

PS: if anyone here has transferred there successfully please tell me your story.

Transferring to elite universities is notoriously difficult and not worth it (imo) unless you are EXTREMELY committed to doing it. I was reading the admission rates of Stanford from community colleges and I think they only accepted like 8 out of 700. <-This statistic is probably wrong but you can find these stats online.

GPA isn’t that big of a factor when one applies to elite universities because everyone applying basically has a 4.0. All comes down to leadership, extracurriculars, outstanding achievements, etc.

There are a couple of people who transferred to Caltech from this board. I remember reading one person’s story on the Transfer forum (this the UC subforum). In short, you’ll need stellar and extensive EC’s, some research experience, high GPA and even with all of this, you’re still a reach. I’m not saying it’s impossible, they just have very low transfer rate. What are reasons for wanting to go to Caltech? Even if you’re majoring in business, you will still have to take physics and math entrance exams as part of the application.
