The SAT is not my strong suit (clearly), but I did a lot academically and was deeply invested in my extracurricular activities. I don’t know what else I am supposed to do to prove that I am a worthy applicant.

So far, I have been waitlisted to UCI, UCSB, and UCSD. I have been rejected from UCLA. I opted into all the waitlists and I am going to appeal to UCI, UCSB, and UCLA (UCSD does not read appeals unless you have been denied admission). What else can I do to prove myself?

My advice is to probably only write an appeal if you have compelling new evidence such as a grade input error or any new awards received after your application submission. I say that because the UC schools wouldn’t bat an eye towards an appeal if its just for continued interest or things already stated on the initial application as stated on their websites. Anyways, Good luck on your waitlists and remember to SIR somewhere before May 1st!

My daughter was waitlisted for UCR,UCSB and not accepted to UCLA/UCSC/UCI/UCSD and even San Diego State.

We knew UCI/UCLA/UCSD were probably long shots, as well as UCSB. They all get over 100,000 applications. My daughter only had 1 AP class i think, and her SAT was similar to yours, I guess I was more surprised at the UCRiverside, Santa Cruz, and especially San Diego state decisions.

The bottom line. The schools are such a good value, and in one of the best locations in the world…Its hard to get in.

Looking at your credentials, I am surprised but also we have never done this before…its a learning experience.

My daughter was wanting to apply for psychology. I think that is the number one major. Possibly if she was a stem, there is less competition. But she is not interested in that.

Good luck is all i can say to u. Maybe enough students will not accept their offers, and their will be room for you. You worked hard I for one think you deserve a spot.

Maybe they would prefer a really high SAT score like 1400, which I have seen on some sites. I have no way of knowing but its entirely possible. They have so many apps, they just have to use something to make the cutoffs.

I hope I am not butting in, but you seem like a liberal arts college type of person. My daughter applied to probably eight “colleges that changes lives” (see the book) and she was accepted to every single one with packages that made the cost almost the same as a UC.

But the thing is at this point, she prefers to stay closer to home. These schools were on the east coast and midwest mostly. But u might look into those…they seem still open to applicants…I don’t think those schools are as popular as CA schools, and you can get a good education there I believe.
