I’m confused about the UC Blue and Gold Plan, where do I look at if qualify or not? I know I have to fill out my FASFA. I did, and they already sent me an email about my EFC, the Cal Grant, the Pell Grant, and this loan, but I’m just not sure where I’m supposed to look for it.
If you’ve been awarded a Cal Grant, then the B and G promise has been met.
^ CalGrant covers nearly all tuition, but some tuition + fees (about ~$1500-2000) are left. Blue and Gold guarantees that the amount left is also covered.
This issue usually doesn’t come up, because in most cases students will qualify for both. However, there are some families that, due to large households but higher income, will only qualify for Cal Grant.
Anyways, if you’re a Pell Grant recipient, I’m pretty sure you qualify. Did you receive an aid package yet?
^^
I should have said Cal Grant and enough Pell. The combo would cover tuition and fees as long as Pell is more than $2k. If not, then a UC grant is needed to be added. The B&G promise isn’t a grant. It’s a promise that tuition and fees will be covered. And, in this case, more than that has been covered.
The OP seems to be looking for a grant labeled Blue and Gold and there won’t be one.
The Blue and Gold is for families that make less than 80K. We qualify for the cal grant but will not qualify for the Blue and Gold because we make more than 80k. It states on the UC awards area who can qualify for B/G. Our Cal grant covers MOST of tuition. The B/G will make sure it is all covered for those that make less than 80K.
