Intended Major: Mass Communications

Last Note:
I know that I am not as outstanding as other people, but I am very dedicated to what I love. I have a genuine desire to learn, but not a considerably high aptitude, thus my GPA is better than my testing.

I would love to hear some input! :)

i think ucb and ucla will be reaches. but for the other ucs im pretty sure you'll get in.

soccersarah017:

UCB: Slight Reach
UCLA: Slight Reach
UCD: Safe Match
UCSC: Safety

You look pretty good. Getting into Davis and Santa Cruise shouldn't be a problem. UCLA and Berkeley are toss ups, but quite likely. If you do want to come to Berkeley, getting a higher ap eng lang or a high (4/5) ap lit score makes life a bit easier.

:)

If you are ELC, then your chances for Berkeley and LA shoot up. As is, I agree with Flopsy. Great extracurriculars, weak awards. I think Mass Communications might be an 'impacted major' at Berkeley, which might make things a bit tougher for you. Best of luck!

TTG

All the UCs will love the fact that you are going to be interning in an area of your intended major and in the summer, you helped save endangered turtles. However, they do put a very strong emphasis on how many v.hours you have done. If you have more than say... more than 100 hours of volunteer per year of high school, that would look very good.

UCB - good
UCLA - reach
UCSC - safety
UCD - good

There have been problems with UCLA at my school. Its true. It is a toss up. No one knows what kind of the students they want. People who were a sure shoo-in didn't make it there. So now, all the students who didn't make UCLA are going to UC Berkeley. The irony of it all. -..-

Are you going to play soccer in college? That might also help you to get into UCLA.

Quick question: Does my internship count for volunteer hours if I am not being paid?

Hmm I think that might work. I'm not entirely sure but internship hours are more impressive than v.hours.

shoo-in. you'll get in no problem

I don't think someone hovering around the bottom of ELC will have much of an advantage over a non-ELC, directly below an ELCer. The trend just follows that students with higher grades tend to have better overall applications. But i don't mean to high jack the thread.

If it means anything to you, the UCLA Bruin is supposed to be one of the best college papers in the country, and i think it's better than the daily cal. But you could just go to the daily cal and make it that much better. :)

There's something special about those wonderful letters... E... L... C.
