I took classes in high school that I paid for college credits at dowling college and SUNY farmingdale. The were italian and calculus classes. How do I indicate this on common app? These classes were taken at my high school but a high school credit and college credit were awarded.

P.S: I took italian last year and am taking calculus this year

Under the “Education” section of the Common App, there’s a sub-section called “College & Universities”. You can list all of your college classes here.

Under “Course Details” be sure to select “Course taught on secondary/high school campus (excluding AP/IB)”. This is for college classes that were still taught at your highschool, but you received college credit for.

For the “College Lookup” part, use the college you gained the credit from. In your case, list SUNY Farmingdale and Dowling college. They will (and should be) listed under the college’s address, not your highschool’s.

And for “Degree Earned” don’t list anything. It’s optional because if you just took the class to earn college credit (as most highschool students do), you did not get a degree.

The rest of the section should be self-explanatory.

If these courses appear on your HS transcript, do not also report them in the colleges section. That section is only for college courses that are not noted on your HS transcript.
