How to list College Credit classes

My DS took two classes at a college last summer, both for college credit (not high school credit, therefore not dual enrollment). We can’t figure out how to list the courses on the common app, there doesn’t really seem to be a way to add them anywhere.

He did add the college he went to under “Colleges & Universities” in the Education section, but it doesn’t allow you to list what the courses were (or, obviously, the grades). Did we miss something?

Thanks for any help!

You put in the courses and the grades in the Courses and Grades section. Even though the classes were not Dual Enrollment, my kid still listed the classes as dual enrollment since there was no other choice.

@ProfessorPlum168 or others, does this mean one needs to somehow attach the college transcript to the Common App? Or does one email/mail that transcript separately to the colleges?

For the schools that require grades (and there aren’t many of them), you would send the transcript separately. For example, a school like USC will ask you to upload a transcript from the college to their portal. The transcript didn’t have to be official, in the case of USC.

We already sent the transcripts directly to each college from the “summer” college. We sent them to the e-mails listed for each school (you have to look around to find right e-mail to send the transcript for each school). We even had to send the transcript to the college itself because the admissions department can’t access the summer college transcripts!

I don’t think listing as dual enrollment is correct. On the help page, they say if you didn’t get high school credit, it shouldn’t be listed.

Wrote to the common app people, will let you know what they say.

like I said in my first post, it’s either choose Dual Enrollment, or not list the class at all. There’s not a separate section or option for college classes. Technically, it is “dual enrollment” since you are taking the class while still in HS.

Almost all colleges using the common app only ask you to list courses for the current academic year, so unless your son is applying to, as an example, Purdue, he does not need to list past coursework; that’s evident from the transcript.

If your son is applying to one of those handful of schools that require past courses to be listed, here is what the Common App says:

So my recommendation: don’t worry about it. Send in the transcript and call it a day. Good luck.

Ok, heard from the Common App people. If you want to list college classes and grades (that aren’t dual enrollment), the only place to do that is in the “Additional Information” in the Writing section.

Weird, but whatever. He has two schools that require courses & grades, so he wanted to be complete.
